my mom is forcing a break up!!!

I'm asking for opinions because I really don't know what to do anymore. I invited my boyfriend of 8 months to a wedding and he kind of behaved in a poor manner, putting his head down and tearing his tie and belt off after having an anxiety attack. As soon as he left my family pinned me and they ALL hate him!! Everyone around me tells me to dump him, that he won't make me happy, but I don't feel this for anyone else, really. I might not know what true happiness is, but I feel horrible just thinking about leaving him. I'm about to turn 18 in one month, and my mom is threatening me to kick me out of the house if I stay with him, she threatened so much more than that but she's giving me no other choice than to break up with him.
