Would you leash your child?

A leash to me seems like a simple way to keep your kids safe, especially if they are prone to taking off or are still learning. No matter how attentive you are as a parent things can still happen. I feel like so many people judge and find it silly. I understand both sides but was curious how other parents were thinking on the subject.
