Would you have sex with someone with herpes type 1?

Herpes type 1 is the one that gives cold sores. It CAN be transmitted to the genitals but it's uncommon. My husband has type 1 and gets cold sores when he's stressed and my mom told me I should leave him because herpes is nasty 🙄

Yes Cold scores comes through stress he's stuck with it for the rest of his life. Theirs no escaping that. Be with him still there's nothing wrong with it they go away so I don't consider them that big of a deal. I get cold sores myself and my bf has been with me for 5 years now. He doesn't find them nasty especially when I have them he still all up in my face. He's never caught one from me. We have sex when I have Cold  sores too he still doesn't get them. The only way u can catch them is if u guys kiss, share drinks, share chap sticks, u just can't share nothing or kiss. He can't give u oral sex either if that's on his lip. But the overall of it is that it goes away. And if the breakout gets bad (it can outbreak bigger if he stresses out more or not treating it with medicine) then he can go to his doctor and they can give him some pills and it'll treat it faster. I'm sorry but what ur mom said really bothered me .lol. there only nasty if there actual herpes not coldsores. Yes there related but there different. When I had cold sores and people made fun of me saying I got "herpes" I would correct them right away. Sorry though that it's alot. Just people get teased alot and made fun of because of that especially since it's related to it. If ur mom said that to ur man I think it would offend him make him upset tbh.

I'm big on things like this. I probably wouldn't date him. I would be too afraid for when we perform oral on each other. People are saying don't have contact when he has an outbreak the virus sheds even when you are not having an outbreak. It's also very common to transmit the virus through oral.  I saw someone else say other wise, not true.

I mean it's not like it's something you can't work around...my friend gets cold sores and so when she gets them, she doesn't kiss her SO, she'll only give him a blow job with a condom on or none at all, she doesn't share drinks, food, utensils, etc to ensure she isn't passing it on to him. As long as you're careful, i don't think there's any issues...if they didn't tell you, well that's a different story! But I mean if they're open about it and are just careful, they will go away and you can move on with your day!

Two of my gfs have genital herpes that was transferred via herpes simplex 1. So it's not that uncommon. But your mom is nuts for saying that. A huge percentage of the population gets cold sores

You can only transfer it to your genitals if oral sex occurrs when he has a cold sore. I have cold sores a few times a year and my husband doesn't have herpes 😂
