Mirena removal and return of aunt flow...

I'm having my mirena removed in January and wondered how long it took for your periods to return normally. Did you have a lot of pain and heavy bleeding? I've had my coil over 8 years and no periods so I'm dreading it!! Can anyone help? Ta Xx
