My baby boy is twelve weeks old. He has a bit of a cold but has quite a bad cough which is irritating him at night. He is still taking his feed , maybe an ounce or two less per feed. I'm having to give him water during the night to help him stop coughing. Which is resulting in his poo being a bit looser (4 dirty nappies today).

Do you think it's safe enough to give him calpol tonight to help settle him incase he has got pain with coughing?

Personally no as calpol won't help a cough. To help with pain it would need to be given every 4 hours and you know when you cough it hurts sometimes that second then it stops hurting. Coughing is good. It keeps the chest clear if they have a cold. However it won't harm you baby to try it.

I would. You can give calpol from 2 months so he's old enough to have it and if you think it'll help then go for it! Trust your motherly instincts x

Yeah I give it to my son at his last feed since 8 weeks. Settles him right down because he started teething very early.
