God parents

I have a little problem. I want my brother and his ex girlfriend, which is the mother of his first child, to be my daughters god parents. My brother had a great relationship with his son until he met his now wife. Now he never sees him or calls him because his wife is jealous of his ex girlfriend. He's completely forgotten about his son but that's a whole other issue. I think when I tell my brother that I want his ex to be my daughters god mother he's going to get angry. His wife is definitely going to be pissed. I don't care because it's not about them it's about my daughter. I'm just wondering if I'm wrong not to care. I decided that if he does have an issue with it that I'll tell him that he doesn't have to be my daughters god father. What do you think? My parents say its a bad idea because his wife is going to get mad, and my brother might too. By the way I'm his sons god mother. And another thing is that he lives in fl, and his ex lives a few minutes away from me in NYC
