How do you girls deal with your SO being away?

Me and my bf have been together about four months, and I knew he'd be leaving getting into the relationship. I didn't think it'd be this soon, but I still knew. He leaves for basic which is 9 months, and if he gets through that, then he goes into training for the specialized job he wants that lasts about two and half years. He'd really only be able to come home for Christmas. We were talking about if we should stay together or if it makes sense to, because we haven't been together that long. But I don't wanna break up just cuz he's leaving. I really like this guy, but I feel like I'd be making him stay with me, even though he says he's willing to make it work.

I just don't know what to do/ needed a place to put this all out there.
