Bacterial infection? and mirena iud?!

So my OBGYN just called me saying that I have a bacterial infection, they did a Pap smear on me cause my cervix looked irritated and I haven't ever had one of these and I wanted to know could it be cause of my mirena iud? They called a prisceiption in for it to clear it up

My sister (She works at the OB/GYN I go to) told me that when you get the iud you can get Bacterial vaginosis etc more frequent . I had BV for the first time a few months ago . I also have an Iud (Skyla)
