Iud question.

I know I post a lot on here about iud questions but the Internet doesn't answer all of them and whatever. But, I got an iud on thursday. The kind that is supposed to stop or atleast reduce my periods. Anyways, I've been cramping a lot since I got it, and now all of a sudden, I'm bleeding a lot. And i know it isn't a period because I just had mine. But I just want to know if this is normal because this seems really odd to me.
