Long Distance Relationships?

So, I lived in California for school, but I'm originally from Texas. I had met a U.S. Marine who was stationed in California the start of my Fall 2016 semester. However, I could not afford my tuition anymore, and I made the decision to move back to Texas with my family and finish my degree. Obviously, he is still stationed in California. Basically, I just want to hear some advice on what we should do? He's having some second thoughts about this relationship, and I really want this to work.
