Loestrin 21 1/20 or BC help in general

Sorry, I just have lots of questions about BC! Any input is appreciated. My dr recently prescribed me Loestrin 21 1/20, because another BC with higher estrogen made me sick. I have 3 week of the pill, then nothing (where there's usually a placebo pill). I'm supposed to wait the 7 days and then start a new pack. So here are my questions:

1. Can I skip the 7 days of nothing and go straight to a new pack to skip my period?

2. As soon as so start a second pack, after a "placebo" week, am I still protected against pregnancy? I know when I start my first pack it's about a week before I'm protected.

3. I've read a lot of semi-negative Loestrin reviews. Has anyone had good experiences with Loestrin?

Thanks y'all! Getting married in May so I want to make sure I'm all set to go with my BC asap.
