birth control diaries part 1

Rebekah
I am a virgin. I get married in June and wanted to get on birth control before I got married so we can do it without a condom. 😉
I have a blood disorder that requires me only to get progesterone birth control. Vastly narrows down what I can have! Because I'm still in school, I work, and have life. I knew pills weren't an option because I wouldn't be able to take it at the same time every day. (Through talking to my doctor and research, I found out that progesterone pills are awful and very easy to get pregnant on)
So I wanted either the Skyla IUD or the arm implant. I went with Skyla first because it's pretty legit. I really do recommend it. However, apparently I am a small percentage of women who have a small cervix. Even with going on my second day of my period and taking meds before hand, it was awful. It was an hour of a clamp, poking and prodding before my doctor gave up. She offered to try again under concious sedation. I was like ahhh no.
Next day, I went back in and got the Nexplanon implant. I was worried that I would get crazy emotional and never stop bleeding. But decided to try it anyway. The insertion was MUCH easier. Took about 15 minutes and I had a massive bruise that's still there, but not nearly as painful and I could at least walk afterwards!
That first period with birth control was normal, I had two additional days of spotting but nothing abnormal. I'm supposed to get my next period in 10 days but just started today. It's very light. No cramping, barely even need a pad I could actually just use a panty liner! The first week after insertion I was super emotional, but that had lessened and I'm normal again. I have had a slight increase in acne but nothing that a more strict face wash regiment hasn't helped.
I'll try to keep y'all updated as I continue! I love it so far!
