Okay, so I'm 16 and frequently have sex with my boyfriend. We use protection, but I'd really like to be put on birth control for an added safety net. Is there any way to bring up the idea of being put on birth control to a parent without it being super awkward?

The best thing would to be honest, and just tell your mom that you'd like to be cautious and use birth control because your sexually active. But, if you don't feel comfortable with that you could always tell her you'd like it to help regulate your period and help with cramps and other PMS symptoms.

I was 15? I just said the good points of it helping with periods and skin. You can decided to tell her about you being sexually active in your own time

Tell them you have bad cramps, or acne (If you have it) and ask to get it for that reason
