Naps??

Question

How many naps does your four month old have. My son doesn't sleep well at night and my sister suggested one nap at 12 or so and then keep him up the rest of the day. Just wanted other thoughts on this..

Mine takes 3-4 naps a day and sleeps 8p-4a, feed at 4a then back to sleep from 4a-730a. Good naps throughout the day help at night, being over tired will only make it harder on yours. I've definitely learnt that keeping him up in hopes he would sleep longer just has the opposite effect.

I've always heard that sleep begets sleep. One nap isn't enough for 4 months - at least in my opinion. Being overtired can cause problems sleeping. My LO takes 3 naps a day totaling 3-4 hours.

Keeping him up all day will just make him super tired overtired really and he wont sleep at night either. Try a routine every day. Wake up at this time, feeding at x time, then nap at x time and repeat then around bed time give a bath or a massage with lotiin every night. I do a bath every few days but make sure to do a sponge-type bath every night she doesnt have a bath, then get her dressed after lotion with massage then she goes in her swing at 830, I sing to her for about 5-8 minutes then leave her to fall asleep on her own. No problems sleeping at nigbt but I have been doing this routine since she came home.

Mine takes 3 naps a day whenever he gets tired and then bedtime is around 6:30 every night. Currently he's been sleeping til midnight, waking up to eat and then back down until 6:30-8 AM. He sleeps in a sleepsuit and he is bottle fed during the day. I breastfeed at night and then supplement with breastmilk or formula depending on what I have and if he is still hungry. He usually tanks up at his last feed before bedtime.

My son has 2-3 naps a day lasting anywhere from 30mins, to 2 hours at a time. But in total I'd say he naps about 4 hours a day. Sleeps from 8pm until about 5:30am when my so leaves for work, nurses and then sleeps again until I wake him up to go to the sitters or if I'm staying home I just let him sleep. Usually wakes up around 9-9:30am if I don't wake him.

I let my baby sleep whenever he is tired, he eats whenever he cries for it, we have never had a schedule. I do try to keep him up from 7 on, he goes to bed at 10 normally and he will sleep all night long.
