I think if he knew about the pregnancy and said he didn't want it, then yes. Or if she didn't tell him she was pregnant and then just goes chasing child support a year later then yes. If they just broke up and then decided he didn't want to child after the child was born then no.

I see a few people stating they can sign away their rights, but from my understanding, signing away your rights doesn't automatically mean you are no longer on the hook for child support. The only time it's that simple is if there is a step parent trying to adopt.

My friend's kid's father wanted nothing to do with the baby and she didn't want the hassle of chasing him for money he didn't have so she chose to respect his decision and he has had no involvement physically or financially. I respect my friend for that.
