Until what age should opposite sex siblings share a room?

Question

Obviously if you had the option to give them separate rooms most people probably would, but if you only had the option to keep them in the same bedroom, what is the maximum age they should be together until?

I'd say when they start asking for privacy. Could be 10 could be older. I the the health department has guidelines though.

There is no real set out age where you cannot be in the same room. It would be nice to be able to be out of the room by puberty. But in other countries they never separate and they grow into healthy fine adults. Its up to you.

My brothers and I shared a room til I was 15

I used to have night terrors and would either scream loud enough that one of my brothers came to my room and stayed with me or I woke up scared enough that I went to their room and stayed with them. There was never any weirdness at all, we were just close and took care of eachother. The boys, both older than me and with a spread of 4 years between them shared a room until my oldest live in brother left home at 20. There was another room if they wanted it, but they preferred spending time together.

Well,  my boyfriends mother (don't have a go at her, she is a lovely woman, give me a chance to explain) lives on a farm.  She has 10 children.  4 of which are her own and the others are fostered which evens out too 5 boys and 5 girls.  
Her oldest son (18) has a room of his own, her second oldest but 3rd overall (15) has his own room.  Her fostered son who is severely mentally retarded (16) shares a room with her son (13) and her other fostered son (6).  The girls, they all share a massive room (she gave them the master bedroom since there are 5 in the room).  These girls ages are 13 (twin to her youngest son), 14 (sister of the mentally retarded fostered child and is also severly mentally retarded), 10, 8 and 5.  
When it comes to showering, all the boys shower seperately but all the girls shower together.  The mum says when they reach puberty like the boys have, they can shower seperately.

My brother and I (he's 15 months younger) shared a room until I was 5, when our younger brother graduated to sleeping outside of my parents room through the night.
Later on, when I was probably 13-14 we shared a room again until I was 16 because we were tired of sharing rooms with messy younger siblings.
We got switched back to our old room set up because my mom was tired of the younger siblings room always being a mess lol.
It wasn't weird or anything.

In some states depending on the laws DCF can get involved. My brother and his wife had to move to a bigger place before the oldest was 6 because she couldn't share a room with her brother anymore. He was 4 at the time.

I really don't think it matters. If it's a necessity for them to share, theres really no reason to worry about it. Depends on what kind of mindset your kids are raised with. Stressing about minor things like this are more likely to put crazy ideas in kids heads anyway.
