thyroid issues

I've suspected I've had a thyroid issue for some time now. My grandmother has hyperthyroid and my mom has hashimoto syndrome. I brought it up to my family dr and he blew it off. I have trouble gaining weight, I'm always tired, and my cycles are crazy irregular (cycle day 51 today 😑). I'm worried it will affect my ability to conceive. I don't want to make an appointment to see a doctor if all they will say is to come back in a year if I haven't conceived. Any advice?
