dad giving baby first bottle

Baby is 13 days old and my nipples needed a break. We've tried nipple shields and that worked for about a day before baby got so frustrated he was clawing at my breasts and nipples. Last night I had to strip him down and do skin to skin Ike the first day in the hospital to get him to calm down and latch. It was traumatic for both of us. I decided to give myself a break and after tummy time, a bath and a nap I pumped his first bottle. He's taking it like a champ but I'm sitting in the next room sobbing. Feeling like a failure and hoping he doesn't decide the bottle is better than mommy. My nips just needed a rest! I hope they toughen up more. It I keep waiting for that to happen and it keeps not happening! What are your nursing success stories?
