registry, what to avoid?

My mother in law is very adamant about getting us registered. 
I got very basic things but baby bouncers and baby pens...are those needed? What bassinets would you recommend especially if I'm only going to use it for maybe a month tops.  Feeling pretty overwhelmed and pushed to start having things on our things listed. And I'm only 5 weeks :/

5 weeks?! Holy smokes. No need to do that now. You have so much time. Get recommendations from friends. See what big items you may be able to get from friends and family. Check out LuciesList.com. Five weeks?!! Your MIL needs to calm down.  I started our registry my first trimester but I didn't tell anyone and took my time to complete it. No one should be pressuring you!

I wouldn't start worrying about a registry or what to buy and what not to until at least your second trimester. It's just added stress and worry you don't need right now. If you must you can start looking at different products available and all of the reviews that come along with them. I watched a lot of YouTube reviews which were helpful. I would just slow it down and wait a bit longer before you start making a registry or worrying about what to buy. Pregnancy is long lol

You could get a pack n' play that includes a changing table, bassinet, and bouncer - I have one that includes those (it's from babies r us I think). It's not a bunch of pretty colors, it's grey and white, but it works wonderfully as a bassinet, and a changing table. The bouncer doesn't bounce on it's own (for whatever reason I thought bouncers bounced on their own), but it does vibrate and my baby likes it. I usually bring him into the kitchen with me when I cook (he complains if he's left alone) and I often use the bouncer. He's almost 5 months now, and I still have the bassinet part in because he can't get out of it yet (the second he can I'm gonna take it out and make it deeper, then it's more of a playpen). Also, he has loved his swing since he was born! That swing saved my sanity too many times to count. Even today, he was being so grumpy because he was in need of a nap and I put him in his swing and *POOF* happy baby who then fell asleep after 10 minutes of smiles.
I recommend the pack n' play, a swing, and an exercauser.
The exercauser thing that I have is two in one, (it's from target for around $90) and it comes with a little play mat thing that you lay baby on and a part goes over top of baby and has lights and music and let me just tell you, my son LOVES that thing. He loves kicking! He kucks and kicks and kicks from one nursing session to another sometimes (which allows me some resting time).

I wouldn't start one until you know gender. It's your baby don't let people push you around. Thatvwill set the tone for everything IMO

You do not need to start a registry yet, don't feel pressured. By the time you have a shower the items will likely not even be available or you may find something else you would like. Take the time now to do research and create a Pinterest board or a document on your computer to save ideas then when you're a month or two out from your shower you can add everything to your registry to be sure it's all available for people to buy for your shower.

I hadn't even told anyone except my husband that I was pregnant at 5 weeks! I would wait until the second trimester to make the registry. It doesnt hurt to get ideas but you have a long time before your shower or any gift buying happens!

MIL need to f*** off and let you live your life! That is incredibly unnecessary stress she is placing on you and it's for her own selfishness. All you should be worrying about right now is which ice cream flavor to eat while you lie down and put your feet up.

Wow! 5 weeks is VERY early to start a registry! I just started mine at 23 weeks lol. I'd say take your time and tell her your not worried about that yet
