is my son too young to train still ?

My son is exactly 2.5. We've been trying to potty train him but as soon as he sees the potty, his undies or his pull ups he cries hysterically. I tried undies and telling him that peeling is on the potty but then he just pees in his underwear and doesn't even seem to notice 🤔. When he goes on the potty he's too distracted to sit there even with a book or toy. I've tried candies and rewards but nope he will just sit there screaming that he wants them without working for it which gets us nowhere. What am I doing wrong? Any tips? If it matters he's a very normal child but he was late for most milestones - didn't roll until 6 months, didn't sit up til 8 months, didn't walk until 18 months. Doctor says he's completely fine just slower lol. Is it safe to say he will be much later with this too?? I'm scared he will never want to

He's not too young, mine were potty trained at 18 months. Some kids just arent interested until later. He's old enough but if he doesnt have an interest in doing it will be harder. It's fine to just wait until he's ready.

It really sounds like he isn't ready. I think you should stop for now because pushing him could make it worse.

We started training my step son around that same time, but it just wasn't working so we stopped and tried again a few months later. We used stickers and it really helped!

My daughter was 18 months and fully potty trained. My son was 3 and crapping in his underwear and hiding it under the bed. He will eventually get it. Maybe take a break for awhile and start again in a month or so. Maybe just leave it as an option but no pressure. I really wouldn't be concerned. Just ask every hour if he'd like to try to go and if he says no then don't make him, eventually get it where you are saying yes let's go try or whatever.  Kids do everything in their own time lol

You may be ready for him to be potty trained now but it doesn't sound like he is ready yet.   With my oldest,  I waited until he was dry after naps and dry in the mornings.  We got him a little fire truck potty and I put it in the living room so he could sit on it and still be with us.  It took maybe a day and he finally peed in it and then decided he wanted to tackle the big potty.  Our youngest son is now starting to be dry in the mornings which is signaling to us he is physically ready to potty train,  and he is going into the bathroom with big brother pretending to go after him so I think we will be starting him soon (he's 2.5).  
Every child is different,  one of the biggest things I learned when I worked at a daycare was once you start potty training do not revert back to diapers.   You have started the transition now,  continue it,  or it can confuse him.   The easiest way is to stop diapers and let him run around naked from the waist down,  or put on some loose pants with no underwear so he can feel when he's wet.   I know it can be a long road,  but I promise he will get it down.  Some kids just need a little extra time.

My son would go through phases of using the potty and then just stopping and wetting himself at this age . I stopped potty training him until he turned 3  and he got the hang of it so quickly he's almost 3 1/2 now and we rarely have an accident.

My daughter is completely potty trained and just turned 21 months old 3 days ago. I potty trained her around 19 months. Girls are easier to potty train than boys though(I've heard) and each kid is different. I just didn't want 2 in diapers because they cost a lot and would be a pain. 
I would just let her run around naked and ask her every hour if she needed to pee pee and put her on the potty, if she went potty I'd let her pick out a piece of candy(I made a big bowl of mixed candy) and if she had an accident I'd tell her no and that we pee in the potty and put her on it. Doing it this way it only took me 3 days of leaving her naked(except for nap and bedtime) and then we did it with big girl panties and then clothes.  Good luck and stick to it!

Sounds like he is not really ready.
My daughter is exactly the same!
Been doing toilet training in the nursery with other kids because it was fun.
Rarely she did a wee in the toilet
Than a period she hated the toilet
Let her be disnt force it
Now started again but she seems the fun part of it not really that she has to wee in it...
I am not too worried
Before they arw 3 they will be trained
Just let him like the potty and ask for it

I'm a preschool teacher. And no he is not. If your home, have him go every 30 minutes. Make it fun, sing songs. And he will get pee b4 poop
