talk to MIL regularly?

I have a good relationship with my mil. I give her a big hug everytime I see her and I help her with things whenever I go over her house, which is once every 2-3 months. This morning She just complained to my husband that I never keep in touch with her and that she only hears of me when we go over her house. But she doesn't attempt to contact me either so now I'm not sure what is expected of me as a daughter in law? At the beginning of my husband's and I relationship, my mil and I used to talk on the phone and text each other throughout the week but we kind of stopped doing that. Do you have to communicate with your in laws regularly? Is it wrong of me that I don't text or call her? I'm just curious how everyone else does with their in laws.
