first time using birth control😖

Im 17, and my mom is allowing me to get on birth control. Ill be getting on it this week but i am very scared because i hear tons of stories of women getting bad side effects from it that damages them permanently. I plan on having kids one day but i dont want birth control to damage anything in my body to prevent me from doing that. And i sure as hell do not want to go through any horrible side effects. Any advice?
