First ultrasound?

My first prenatal appt is at 10 weeks 6 days... will they be giving me an ultrasound at that time?  My SO can't be there for this appt and I am wondering if that is something he will miss out on. ...also, if they do perform an ultrasound how long does that part take?  What are some good questions to ask at the first appt???

I would call and ask the office because you don't want your husband to miss out! I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and 13 weeks and then no more until 19 weeks. I know everyone's doctor does something different though.

Ultrasound depends on the clinic, not all of them will do them that early unless there's an issue. You will probably hear the heartbeat.  Make sure you know if there's any genetic disorders or diseases on his side of the family. Ask what their appointment/ultrasound/testing schedule is, what to expect at the appointments.  Where they want you to deliver if there's more than one option. What number to call if you have questions or concerns, or what to do if you feel like you're having an emergency (for mine at 20+ weeks you go to the labor and delivery floor, not the ER, but that varies).

Normally they will do an ultrasound just for dating purpose and it also determines if baby is in the right spot and still measuring. At 10 weeks they should easily pick up the heartbeat as well. It lasted about 15 mintues for me.

Yes, they'll most likely give you a transvaginal ultrasound . It's painless and only because the baby is so small at this point. They should tell you everything you need to know .

I went in at what we all thought was gonna be 10 weeks 4 days and the first thing they did was give me an ultrasound to measure baby and give me a proper due date.
