Do you girls smell during and after foreplay down there?

My boyfriend and I have not done much as I am virgin at the age of 18 but we have done some foreplay with each other but never the full thing. I am super new with the entire sex and anything that is regarded to it. But tonight he had brought to my attention about me not smelling down there tonight compared to the other times that I have apparently to him. The weird thing is is that I had just showered a few hours before he came over just like I have any other night we have been together.  I was just wondering if your significant other has ever told you that you smelled and if so, is there any other meanings other than maybe I didn't wash well? Or am I suppose to have a smell or what?
