baby formula constipation?!

So my 3 week old daughter was originally breastfed but I ended up in the hospital with bad mastitis and an abscess and haven't been able to produce since then. I had to switch her to formula, which I get on WIC, so I'm only allowed to get similac advanced. If I could afford any myself I would explore other options. Anyways, she hasn't pooped in almost two days and it was to the point that she was obviously uncomfortable, so I gave her about 3/4ths of a pedialax suppository. That worked but seemed to be pretty hard on her stomach, so for future reference, is there anything else I can do?? Please help!

I was told by a nurse that my LO was too young for a suppository (she was 6.5 weeks old) and to instead give her some juice (apple prune juice). This acts like a laxative. The baby can have up to 1 ounce a day. I breast feed and supplement with formula, so the nurse recommended breastfeeding, supplementing, and THEN offering the juice -- this ensures that the baby gets the important nutrients first and doesn't get filled up on juice. She also suggested not offering more than half an ounce at a time at first and seeing how the baby reacts -- you don't want to give too much right off the bat because you may end up with them having diarrhea... which wouldn't be fun for you or baby. I was able to find the juice in the baby food aisle at Target. It comes in a set of four small bottles which is good so you can use it as needed without a large quantity going unused/bad. It does not need to be diluted and can be in the fridge for a few days once it's been opened.

My daughter was constipated after using only powdered formula (Similac). I originally used only the Ready to Feed type and switched to strictly powdered when she stated having problems pooping. I switched back to instead alternating powder and Ready to Feed and she's back to pooping daily, and now with solid foods she goes twice a day sometimes.

I had to give my baby enemas about once a week for a long time and it helped.

But you could go to the WIC office and explain it's making her constipated and see if they'll switch her. They may need a doctors note explaining why that formula isn't working for her, but they'll let you know what to do when you get to them.

Pump the legs like a bicyle and then push both up to chest. Some pressure helps buy make sure its slow and gentle. Try that for maybe 10 miniyes or so and if its not helping relieve anything than Take a thermometer put some vaseline on it and put just the metal tip part in her rectum and just really gently move it around and in and out. The first few weeks my lo started formula I had the same problem.
