IUD or mini pill?

Question

I am 37 weeks with my fifth baby, and I am starting to consider birth control. My hubby and I have never really used it, and we will now have five children eight and under. I'd like to give my body a little bit more of a break if we decide to have another one. I asked my midwife about the mini pill and she says that it is good, but should really only be used when breast-feeding. She also said IUD's are really popular, but I'm just not hundred percent sure about them. I would probably be interested in Mirena or ParaGard. I guess I am just curious of everyone's experience with any or all of these options. Thanks!

I was on mini pill for years and worked great for me. Regular birth control and the estrogen was giving me monthly migraines so I switched to the progestrin only pill "pops" or mini pill and had no issues.

Paraguard is not recommended if you have a history of heavy or painful periods. Mirena I've heard messing a lot with your hormones which is why I chose Skyla. It's amazing!

Had the copper paragard for 4 years and loved it will be getting one put in 6 weeks postpartum.

I had the paragard for about 6yrs had no issues. Now if your period is normally heavy and painful not recommeded or if you have PID

I've had mirena in for 6 months and love it so far. It's the only form of birth control I've ever been on too. It took about 6 weeks for my body to adjust to it and I bled for a couple weeks but after that everything was great. My periods weren't around at all until I stopped breastfeeding and now that they're back they're much lighter. I don't even realize it's there at all
