baby bending down to pick things up..

My LO just turned 5 months old and lately all he wants to do is bend down to pick things up. I hold him standing up and he bends down and grabs things and picks them up. He doesn't want to sit down sometimes he just wants me to keep him standing and pick things up.. when I sit him down after a while he scoots trying to get up to stand.. anyone else's LO doing this? How are you dealing with it? Sometimes he whines and cries cause I won't do it or let him grab things anymore because he knocks them all down lol.
