Is this a phase ?

My babe is 6 months old and is currently terrified to be around a lot of people. I took her to a family party at a restaurant and she cried the whole time. Yesterday was her baptism and she was totally fine until the end when people came up to see her and the party she cried the whole time again. Broke my heart but not sure what to do. I take her to stores and the mall and she's fine. I'm confused. I hope it's a phase. And ends soon lol. My family is big and loud. And they love her to pieces.
