Baby having Dual citizenship?!

Question

I'm a US citizen and a permanent  resident.I'm currently pregnant and was wondering how can my baby get dual citizen of the US/Canada???

Like if my baby was born in Canada and have a Canadian birth certificate,will she be able to have a US social security number and US passport ????

Then would I have to apply for her Canadian citizenship even if the baby is born there?

I honestly don't know how this stuff works.And I am not married if that makes a difference.

I'm an immigration attorney. You should consult with an attorney or speak to the US Embassy in Canada. There are very specific rules for babies born abroad to American citizen parents if you want your child to acquire US citizenship.

Is your partner Canadian? Or are you just wanting your child to be born in Canada to have dual citizenship?

My husband is Canadian and I'm a US citizen. From what I understand, US doesn't acknowledge dual citizenship, but Canada does. If I'm wrong, correct me. Definitely talk with someone legally to know for sure. Putting trust in ladies you've never met before on an app isn't the best way to make the right choice. Not a criticism, but when it comes to citizenship, you don't want to mess around. Good luck.

I have a dual citizen baby (she's 3 now) and my next one that is coming in April will be a dual citizen as well. They get Canadian citizenship by being born in Canada. They can get us citizenship because one or both parents are US citizens. You make an appointment after the baby is born at the nearest  embassy or consulate and bring the necessary paperwork to receive a "cirtificate of birth abroad", a social security number, and if you want a US passport. Your child will have a Canadian birth cirtificate as well.

If I would be you, I would talk the embassies. So if you live in Canada as a us citizen, talk to the US Embassy in Canada. Also talking to the Canadian Embassy in the US might help.
As far as I know, are two kinds of dual citizenships at birth: Dual citizenship until 18 or for life. There's also a third option of "keeping old" while getting second new one. 
The exact laws depend on both countries as well as if citizenship by blood or by soil and sometimes also year of birth, as laws change.

I am a dual citizen at birth for life and my child will be too, BUT I have unique circumstances that cannot be easily explained. I just know because I asked both of my Embassies.

I'm Canadian my husband is Australian we live in the US baby will be born in the US and therefore will hold an American passport and we will need to apply for Him to have Canadian and Australian citizenship after birth
