low iron and red blood cell count

Melinda • Bárki, aki okos, az megingatható érvekkel
So I am 38 weeks pregnant today. I have known that my iron was low so I had to have another blood work done almost a month ago. Now my doctor said that my level is still low. My iron level was like a 4 and it has not increased even though I am taking iron pills. Another doctor (who gets my results from my gyno) called amd said he wants to do a follow up because of my low red blood cells.
Did anyone have low iron during pregnancy? If so, how did it affect you? What about after giving birth? I am worried about the blood loss during and after birth. I do not want to have a transfusion or have problems after the baby comes. I am a little worried so I think I am just looking for some kind words and reassurance. Thank you!!
