Does the ring bearer have to walk down the isle

Or can he be the one that walks down the isle with her?

When I get married I'd like to walk down the isle with my son.

Would I need a different ring bearer (nephew), and just have my son be the one to walk me down?

What do you guys think? This will be a surprise for everyone so I can't really ask.

I think having your son walk you down the aisle AND be the ring bearer is SO sweet. Make it your own. There aren't any rules.

My son held the rings at our wedding. He kept pulling them out of his pocket throughout the ceremony and looking at them, making sure he still had them. lol

As the woman who had her dad AND stepdad walk her down the aisle, I say do what you want. I got criticized for letting my stepdad walk  me. People said it'd hurt my dads feelings, but they didn't know my dad. He and my stepdad are best friends for nearly 15 years now. I think letting your son walk you down the aisle would be precious. You walk after the flower girls and ring bearer anyway, so everything will still flow right into place. That's my daddy on the right and step daddy on the left. Btw I had FOUR flower girls and 1 ring bearer. (I have 14 nieces and nephews)

Traditions give you an outline of how weddings could be. But you can stray in any way you want. To me, the more you make it your own the better. I think having your son "give you away" is so beautiful! It really warms my heart! What a great idea!!
