Rash from Pads?

This might be TMI, but the past few days I've had irritated skin around my vagina, specifically the area between the vagina and the anus. The skin is very irritated, dry, and flakes a bit. This started a couple days after my period started, and I'm pretty sure it might be because I use pads. But I've been using the same brand for years and haven't had a diaper rash -like reaction before. I used a tampon today because of it, and while it felt better since the pad wasn't rubbing against the skin, it's still red and irritated.

Has anyone else experienced this before? And how did you treat it? Are there home remedies to help sooth it?
