trying to figure this out

Hi! I have a question and have only dated 1 guy so don't have any past relationship experiences to compare to. As a girl I always was given the if you don't feel comfortable don't do it/don't go. From sex to going somewhere this applied. On the other hand my bf has some not great friends and I keep telling him if he doesn't feel confortable going then he doesn't have to. And I asked him if he was told this as a kid and he said never. His parents are very good and strict but find it odd he never heard this before I told him. Is anyone else bf/husband like this? He's only 20 so kinda in that age group of having to fit in. I feel like his mama should have had this talk but they only have sons so I guess they don't know the seriousness. Then also I was thinking I also have gotten the don't let a guy disrespect you/if he hits you you leave speech. Has anyone's bf/husband ever gotten this from their parents?? I'm just curious about the differences of how a daughter and son are raised.
