Oatmeal cereal in formula bottle!! Is it OK to give this to my 3month old with his formula as a thickening? He spits up constantly and have already tried other formula please advice!! Waiting for doctor on vacation!

Before 4 months babies stomachs just can't digest solid foods and you may end up with more issues than you started with, so I would say no.. they do make formula with added rice starch which is a little different than that so maybe try that?

My son gets oatmeal cereal once a night in his breastmilk bottle. Not because he spits up but because he will drink 12oz in less than 4 hours and my doctor said that that's too much. He needs to be starting solids soon he said.

My sons pediatrician recommended rice cereal because of his acid reflux and it works great! I've also heard you can do it with oatmeal instead incase they get constipated. I only put rice cereal in his at night because that's when he spits up the most because of him laying flat for so long. And now he doesn't even spit up during the day anymore either. So it worked great for him

Try meeting with the pediatric gastrointestinal doctor first. The gave me a thinking agent. I used apple sauce sometimes too. Just easy on the tummy and helped him poop. Plus he liked the taste. But rice sounds best. I would still ask the doctor.

The doc may tell you no just because they think it will put on too much weight. All of mine have had cereal in their bottles because of reflux.But I thought that the rice cereal was a little easier on their stomachs for a first solid. Best of luck
