Labor and visitors?

My family knows we will not have anyone in the delivery room, but they still plan on being in the hospital during labor. If you didn't have anyone in the delivery room, but people waiting during labor, what was that like? I don't want to feel like I have to make everyone happy.

My family waited while I had my csection. They went to see me as soon as I was brought to my room. I was so exhausted I fell asleep while they were there. I wish they had given me a little time before coming.

This is why I won't be telling anyone when I go into labor.. just hubby and I. We'll make phone calls once the whole thing is done and I've had my rest. Lol

Once I was in active labor I could have cared less who was where. Hell if the whole family wanted to be holding my legs up it wouldn't have bothered me. They'll just end up sitting in a waiting room for however long. In my case 22 hours. Then another 3 before I got an actual room. Labor wasn't a magical intimate experience where my husband and I bonded and fell deeper in love. Whoever wanted to be in the room was allowed and no ones feelings got hurt.

Trust me, once labor begins, you don't care who is where.

I'm worried that I'd feel that way too if people were waiting outside for me but other moms tell me when you are in labor it's pretty much impossible to care or think about anything else. Still, you can always just call family after you give birth.
