sleepovers at friends or no sleepovers?

I hated sleepovers as a kid. I went to a few but always used my mom as "the bad guy" to say I couldn't stay over. I never liked staying at other people's houses. I always preferred my own bed. My mom was good about it and we had a code on the phone when I'd call and ask so she would either say yes or no depending on what I wanted lol! I plan on doing the same for my daughter when the time comes. My first actual sleep over was in grade 2.

What age is the child?

Answer

Yes-If I know the parents, before the age of 10. 
Once they are around 10, I think they are at an age where they can tell me if they were put  in a bad situation. My almost 8 year old was allowed to stay at a hotel sleepover a few weeks ago, it was the mom and 4 other girls from school, she's a strong swimmer and the motel was less than a mile from my house!!

My parents started letting me go to sleepovers when I was 10. I want to say I'll let my daughters go to them, but I think I want to wait until they are older, like 13-15. It's not that I wouldn't trust them, but it makes me nervous at the thought of trusting other parents with her. I've read some really scary stories about things happening to people's children while they were at a friend's house.

I would have to talk to the parents first before deciding on that. I don't mind my kid sleeping over I would just like to know the people he's going to be staying with
