Feds in Chicago?

I'm so disgusted. I love my city. I grew up here, however, Chicago is historically violent. Within a week, 3children were shot in the head. 2 are dead and one is still on life support. There's criticism from having the Feds come to Chicago. Probably the only thing that I'll ever agree with Trump on. Something needs to be done. I feel like the Feds are a vital resource at this point. CPD has been proven flawed and many times the communities refuse to help.  Do you guys think the Feds would have a positive impact?

It depends on which Feds you mean? The only thing that has ever proven to reduce violence and crime is education. The only way children can get an education is if they are healthy and fed.

So if by Feds he is referring to putting good schools and making sure kids can get there safely as well as making sure kids are fed and healthy, then yes. If by Feds he is going to make sure the police aren't violating the constitution, then yes.

If by Feds he means to use military to come in and leave, then it is a short term solution to a much larger issue. If the Feds are supposed to come and take all the guns, then we are talking about constitutional violations. So that won't work, and has never worked. The Feds were in Chicago many times through the last 100 or so years and it never helped more than a bandaid on a broken leg.

That tweet made me so fucking angry. I live here too and see a need for reform, this isn't what's needed though. It's al not really a thing he can legally do.

What we do need is that damn state budget sorted out so that organizations like cease fire can do work again.

We need to look at how conceal carry has played out, and consider repealing it.

We also need to make massive changes to our police force, so communities will work with them again.

We need to prevent guns coming in from Indiana. He actually could deploy federal force to the border legally if he actually cared about gun violence and not talking points at the expense of our communities pain.

I don't know. I think by the Feds coming in it'll cause more violence. People will be upset, there will be riots. I don't know the solution though, it's so sad.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, especially since this is something Trump is trying to do.

Bringing in the Feds sounds like potential militarizing of the police, which I believe will only make the situation worse. There will be even more police brutality, more death, more oppression. It's better to focus on reform and improving the lives of others, not increase the amount of violence and police brutality.

I think that unless policing, nationwide is really looked at, scrutinized and redone, we're just going to repeat cycles.

I could be just under informed here but in my opinion, militarizing the city of Chicago and waging a war on criminal activity will result in mass-incarceration and many deaths. I'm not by any means saying that nothing should be done, but sending hostile forces to clean it up 'by any means necessary' may fix it for a short period of time, but the long term resolution is education and reform.

I pray for everyone in the city of Chicago daily. It's so heartbreaking.

And it bothers me that Trump's only statement thus far has been sending in the Feds. Shouldn't he have some other idea other than violence? A way to prevent this from happening again?  Sounds sketchy to me. I don't believe that he cares. I think he sees life in Chicago as expendable and will just continue with a cycle of violence, like "law and order" does so well.

Y'all remember when the California Governor said if Trump tried to interfere with the way he handled immigration in his state he would physically resist? 
Chicago should do that.

It does sound like a good idea but I think it opens the door to possible racial profiling, unnecessary arrests, and abuse of power. I think other options should be explored first.
