Would you lie to get your child insurance?

Long story short, I messed up and didn't realize my son wasn't on my dental insurance. He has 12 teeth and just chipped one, and needs to be seen. This will be his first appointment. I asked my boyfriend to tell his HR that he had a loss of coverage so that he could get him on his insurance, but he was uncomfortable and wouldn't lie to his HR. We have the $$ to pay for the appointment, but if you didn't have to submit paperwork to prove anything and they took your word for it, would you lie to get your child health/dental insurance or just suck it up and wait until open enrollment? Posting anon because I don't want the flack.

Would you lie if you didn't have to submit forged paperwork? Would you lie AND submit forged/false paperwork? Or would you just pay it and enroll at the correct time.

Insurance fraud will land you in prison. It's not worth it. A lot of dentists will work with you if you can't pay up front.

No way! I refuse to get a ridiculous fine and go to jail for something that I could have prevented. Hospital/doctor/dental bills can all go on payment plans

Dentists will work with you to pay it. Don't make him forge anything - especially when he's expressed his unwillingness to do so. It can wait until open enrollment.

If you guys get married at the court house Monday, your son can enroll in his plan without having to wait for open enrollment. Even if the insurance isn't active when he goes to the appointment, when you enroll him, he will be covered from the date of marriage, not date of enrollment :)
