Is it strange to have a baby shower for your second child?

I've always been curious what others thoughts are on having a second baby shower after you have already had your first child. I don't think I will be having one but just wanted to hear others opinions of it!

I've never heard of it being weird until seeing people on this forum say it is. I think it's totally fine, especially if there's a few years between each child. People love buying things for babies anyway. Just feed and entertain your guests!

I think parties are cool. But a full on baby shower for every kid screams "hey come buy me gifts". I personally would never do that. I think one baby shower for each sex is enough. A party for everyone to come see the baby or celebrate the baby before they come is great with no expectation of gifts.

My husband and I are deciding to have a "Sprinkle" baby shower once we conceive baby #2. Since we were already blessed with a huge baby shower for our son, we don't want to obligate our friends and family to go all out and buy another crib and more play pens (other big baby gear) since we received all of that for our son. But every baby is different and unique and special-- so a sprinkle for cute things and newborn necessities ❤️

My kids are 11 years apart and different genders. We also live in a different place, so none of the people who went to 1st would be at 2nd. But I say go for it and let the host/people you invite decide!

If someone wants a baby shower for every kid they have then I say go for it. It doesn't mean people are just looking for handouts. People are always saying we should celebrate life but then put rules on something like a baby shower. I think people should just do what makes them happy. 
Anything I said was not a direct jab at anyone so don't get upset.

No?  My mom had a baby shower for my little brother and he's the third and last child. Do what you want,  who cares what others think

I think it depends. For someone who has their children close together, they might not need one but I still think that a baby shower is a celebration of the baby and that they deserve one. My daughter will be 9 in April and I'm due with my 2nd in June so I'm having one. I'm starting all over and of course a lot has changed in 9 years.

My children are 2 years apart . I am having one only because they are different genders. Now whenever I have my 3rd child it depends on how far apart but probably no because I will have everything for both genders.

Every child is special and should be celebrated, my friend had a baby shower for her first and welcome to the world parties for the other two but in all three she asked for no gifts just everyone to come and enjoy themselves and tell stories and give advice to her and her husband, great time was had at all three
