smudging a house? anyone done this? does it help because I'm scared of my house.

Question

I just bought a house, my first home purchase and I'm terrorfied of it.
My husband feels nothing, and as strict Christians it's difficult to really believe in paranormal but I swear I've encountered this before when I was a kid after my sister played with a ouija board. I've been exposed so I think I'm more sensitive to it maybe?

Anyway we cleaned the attic and we found all kinds of documents, burial certificates birth certificates, love letters, photos, dog tags from the previous family's wwii soldier, photos of him, his death papers, and a wedding gown.
It's eery because the family has a plot at the same place my inlaws have a plot.
The woman's name is the same as my husbands grandmas, and she had children that look like grandmas children... and she and grandma lived on the same street too but never met..

We put these papers in a room and for the past three months I just can't go in there or in the hall by that room.
Even my dog, my dog!! She won't go in there. It was supposed to be her room and we put her in there once and everything we had in there when we returned from a walk was moved around backwards.

I don't feel welcome.
I freaking hate this house. I can't wait to move. It doesn't like me, but Michael doesn't feel any of this.. but even Kahlessi, my dog- won't even go near the room. We've thrown toys down the hall and she reaches a certain point and stops. In three months she still refuses to go near it.

I just boxed the papers and I'm shipping everything back to their real estate team to get them the documents.
But I still want to smudge it.

Specially with my furniture being moved backwards around the room and with my dog refusing to go near it..

Does anyone have experience doing smudging? And does it actually help clear the energies?

I didn't even want to buy this house, but I really got pressured by another side of the family and didn't have a choice.

As someone with experience with this I HIGHLY suggest you call someone with experience out to do it. If done wrong it can end up just pissing off whatever if anything is in your house.

Don't smudge on your own, especially without knowing what energy your dealing with. It can go terribly wrong if done incorrectly. The only thing I'd say is okay for you to do is researching the history of the property.

Try to find a local Wiccan or someone experienced in cleansing houses. Sometimes local paranormal groups will offer referrals. Alternatively, you can have your housed blessed by a priest. Sometimes doing both helps.

It was a good step sending the property of the former owner to the realtor so it can get where it needs to be. Hopefully that will help. 
Until then, trust your gut. Try to stay centered as much as you can so your not adding your own energy into the mix. Meditating and yoga can help.

When I was younger our house was definitely haunted and it seemed to be very unfriendly. We had a priest come over and after that there were never any issues.

Sage.  Get some sage and burn it throughout the house.  It should help with any bad MOJO in that house.  I know what you mean.  That's got to be torture living there.  Aside from sage there are other rituals,  oils , candles ect that you can use to help wars off bad spirits

We had freaky things happening at our rental. Door open and close. Lights turn on and off suddenly. Things move rooms. My son's room seems to be the creepy feeling room. We blessed salt and salted the house and room. We also have lit a white candle and prayed. Most of what helps me is saying prayers out loud. We even had the house blessed--my religion. 
Nothing ever seemed nasty, but weird. One night when we first moved in I went to bed and woke up because my son was crying in his crib. I almost got out of bed, but then I saw my hubby settle him. So I was like, okay and went back to sleep. About 10 minutes later, he woke up again, not unusual, but I settled him and the went to go talk to my husband. He wasn't home yet. Freakiest night of my life! 
I would put the stuff back in the attic where it was resting.

We are native and my mom just did this because she thinks the house is haunted 😒 pretty sure we just have a draft, lol. But you definitely can, especially if it will make you feel better

You can try it but you have to do it right. You should start I one part of the house and have the door best is the Front door. You have to go through the whole house room by room. Tell who ever is there that they are not welcome and that they need to go. And end at the front door.
