SO randomly overprotective of their phone?

Me and my SO have been together a little over a year and he has NEVER been overprotective of his phone and I've never been one to go through anyone's phone but this morning I was saying goodbye as I was leaving for work and he asked me to cuddle for a few mins before I left so I pushed the "home" button on his phone so I could see the current time... he snatched that phone up like his life depended on it! Granted he was half asleep but this is completely out of character for him and to me that raises a red flag... should I bring it up to him or just let it go?

Just ask him. Tell him you are worried and you would feel better if he let you look through his phone right now. If he acts weird about it be concerned. There is also always a possibility he could be keeping a good secret from you (gift/surprise)

Something similar happened to me with my husband about a year ago. He was being very weird towards him phone and always Having it on him. He would take it with Him to the bathroom late at night. Well one night we were laying next to each other in bed watching tv and  i caught him texting some number that wasn't saved in his phone and so I scooted over towards him a little bit to where he wouldn't notice and I saw that he was flirting with this girl. I immediately flipped out and he was treating me like I was stupid. He was texting some girl that worked at the same place  he worked at. (How he got her number is a whole long story.) I asked to read the messages and he kept saying no until he finally gave in and showed me the messages. They'd been texting for like around a week or so. I saw that he called her incredibly gorgeous and I broke down. (Mind you, he hadn't given me a compliment in a long time...I had already been depressed) we argued and after I calmed down and after a lot of tears...I told him that if he was serious about our marriage and if he loved me, then he'd stop. He blocked her number and deleted her number off his phone. I told him to quit his job because I would soon hate him for worrying and hating myself everyday. 
So he quit and he slowly proved himself. 
Now our marriage is better and he knows I fully trust him.

Yep me and mine have been going through the same bs he sleeps with his beside him in his side table so I just changed all my passwords wanna pull that on me see how you like it is how I see it this just started a couple days ago
