If you had a genetic illness, would you have children?

And I mean like, something that's really hard to deal with. And there is a huge chance that you will pass this illness down to your child, would you still have a child? If I have kids I will likely pass my illness to my children and they will pass it to their children and so on.

My friend did IVF & they implanted embryos that did not have the genetic defect. Depending on your condition, that might work!

My best friend has Huntington's disease. It's kind of like Parkinson's. She will be adopting.

My fiancé has a genetic condition so I got tested to ensure I didn't have the same DNA. Our child will be a carrier but won't present.

As to why we are having children: everyone passes something down to their children. We just know what it is in our case.

Depends on the illness. I can't think of any right now that would make me not have children... but if it was something really bad, I couldn't justify passing that on to my baby.

My mom has a bad mental illness which mean I'm genetically more inclined to get it. I thought long and hard about children. So far I'm fine. I believe in God so I prayed a lot about this. I said I didn't want a baby if i or my baby would end up like mom. Let this illness end with me. I left it in his hands. Month one of trying we got our pregnancy. So whatever will be will be.
