How to Explain the Epidural to my Partner

My boyfriend is a sweet guy but he's honestly annoying sometimes especially when he feels strongly about something. He thinks I'm weak minded because I want to get the epidural. He always says stuff like "where are the real women at?" When talking about women who give birth naturally. I have low pain tolerance and I just want to get the epidural. How can I explain it to him?
