Did castor oil work for you?

If you took it to induce labor, please comment with how far along you were, whether you were dilated at all before, and did it get labor going? Would you do it again?

I was 39 weeks + 6 days, had been 2cm dialated for weeks and I was 70% effaced.
I took 2tbs of castor oil at about 1:00am.
At 5:00am, I took another 2tbs.

At about 10:00am, i started having severe pain in uterus. The pain would flare up about every 5 minutes and would last almost a minute long.

I had to use the bathroom only twice and the pain started to be constant and even more painful.

12:00pm:
Laying around in severe pain because I still just thought I really needed to poop even though the pain was making me want to vomit and collapse.
1:30
Sat on the toilet, because I still had no idea they were actually contractions, pushed a little bit and felt a big "pop" and a release of fluid.
Realized my water had just broke and we started driving to the hospital.
2:00pm
Literally having to try to NOT have the baby  in the wheelchair on the way to an exam room. They checked my vitals and she took a look in me and said I was 10 cm and 100% effaced. Doctors filled the tiny exam room and they said I wouldn't make it to a labor suite and had no time for an epidural. 
2:37pm
Pushed 5 times, no pain medicine, gave birth to 7 pound Dylan!

Castor oil causes FAST and EXTREMELY INTENSE labor. But it really really works. I would still be at home pregnant if I hadn't taken it.

Please do not use castor oil. It could cause the baby to have a bowel movement and it can make them super sick. Any type of laxative is a no no.

Not worth it. It's mostly a old southern wives tail.

My mom did it to prevent the need of an enema but she had the worst diarrhea and still pooped during birth.

It didn't cause her labor. I was 2 weeks late and my brother was also. She cooked thanksgiving dinner to put herself into labor so I say just be active instead. Less painful and doesn't test as bad.

My mother induced her last three pregnancies this way and had no complications whatsoever...because I'm sure you've heard "you're horrible don't do that" enough already 🙄

In my birthing class, I was told the only things that actually induce labor (besides medical interventions) are sex and nipple stimulation.

I tried it twice and both times labor started within 4 to 6 hours.... I was 4 cm at both times when I tried.
