Moms help!!- When did you introduce infant cereal/solid foods??

I'm so confused. I was told not to give baby solids until after six months. But all the mom's in my area with babes the same age as mine are already giving them cereal/solids. These babies age from 4-6 months. What did you guys do/what do you think?

I'm not confused but rather looking for insight on what other Moms have done. I personally did not want to start giving him food until minimum six months. He will be exclusively breastfed until then. However, he is not gaining a lot of weight so I believe my doctor will suggest otherwise. When we do start solids we plan on giving him vegetables and not rice or oat cereal as there is no nutritional value in it.

I'd say never. Just start with veggies when you know it's the time, at least 6 months

My boy's been eating cereal since 2 months & baby food at 3 months. My pediatrician told me it all depends on the child, every baby is different.

All I'm going to say is peds are nutritionists. Please wait it out till 6 months and research open/virgin gut.

If I had to choose between following medical advice provided by a doctor based on lots of research or doing something different (and potentially harmful according to the doctor) because it's what some other people do, I'd follow the doctor's advice.  It doesn't seem confusing or like a difficult dilemma to me at all.

I didn't give my kids solid or cereal until around 6 months. Think of it this way a baby digestive tract is the last thing that develops fully. You could even try 5 moths.

My son just turned 3 months. He has oatmeal cereal in his bottles twice a day because he was spitting up so much. Because he's already had it, I think at 6 months we'll start right with vegetables and fruit.

We started cereal at 10 weeks. It's made a world of difference with my son's reflux and sleeping.
