I definitely meant to click wrong! It is never acceptable to hit an animal as a form of discipline.

Since I want to be a K9 handler as well as a trainer. I definitely don't think hitting your dog is ok. Bringing your dog over to the mess they mad and spanking them is not the way to do it. They don't understand what you are trying to tell them. Also crates should not be used as punishment because then the animal begins to view their crate as a bad place. As for chewing and how to handle it is if you catch them in the act you tell them no and make them stop if they don't stop after you say no. If they are chewing it's from A) boredom or B) their teething. In either case you give them something constructive to do or let them chew on something that won't hurt them. I.e. Chew toys or something mentally stimulating.

I have a cat and will never hit her, we spray her with water, only sometimes! And when the water hits her she doesn't care lol.

We show her what she did wrong right after it happens and swat her butt. If it's a second time same offense then usually a swat and crate time
