how do I motivate my bf ?

My boyfriend and I should be starting university in September. I have a 4.0 GPA and I'm applying for Law whereas my boyfriend is doing mediocre and isn't interested in university. He plans instead to start working after he graduates but has no real plan as to where and how.  Although I know he can still be successful that way I just want him to apply for university just as a back up plan. I'm honestly wishing we would be continuing school together by going over to uni together as well but I know I can't force him to do so. It just really stresses me that he even refuses to just apply for it ! He knows having a back up plan is important yet he completely ignores or disregards me when I mention it..
