People can be really mean in Middle school, in high school- honestly, everyone is so insecure, and they put others down to make them feel better.  Hurt people hurt people. 
And though that isn't an excuse and it doesn't make the things they say sting less. But it is truly important that we see it in ourselves, otherwise, it's a cycle that that follows us- even into adulthood, even into your kids. 
The negativity that we hold onto rubs off onto others. You only get one life, one skin, one body- Love it!
