Will the baby be a "bastard?"

If you were married when you conceived, but get divorced before the baby is born, will the baby still be considered a bastard?

Wow I think that is such an outdated and offensive term. Idgaf if you're single and don't even know who the daddy is that baby is not a bastard, it is your child & if anyone has the balls to call your baby a bastard they sure as hell better be ready to endure the wrath of that baby's mother.

Is this for real? That concept doesn't even exist anymore! Come on! He/She is a person. Marriage doesn't give anyone standing or legitimacy. It's the XXI century!

A judge. Will not even divorce you. While pregnant. After delivery you can get divorce. And yes that term doesn't even make sence anymore. He or she will be a loved child regarless if married or not.

I was the one who posted this. I only asked this because the father said she would be. Meaning the technical term of born out of wedlock, not meaning the offensive way.
And for of you who said they wouldnt allow a divorce or one so quickly? After we passed in the forms it was maybe 3 weeks later that we got the confirmation that our divorce was final and i was given my maiden name back.

That's a very quick divorce. I've never known one to be completed that quickly, but TECHNICALLY, I think that would qualify the baby as one. But I don't know that it's really a relevant term anymore...lots of people choose not to get married and have kids, lots of mom's choose to go the single route with artificial insemination or whatever. All that matters is that the child is loved, and especially if the parents are able to coparent after the divorce, I don't really see where the kiddo would get called that even if he is by definition, yanno?
