How do I tell my partner I don't want kids now.

After an abortion (don't start negative comments it was for a particular reason I'm not comfortable explaining so please don't start as don't need to feel even worse about myself) I thought I really wanted children. But now, the thought of having kids scares me and I'm completely off the idea of ever having a child. How do I explain to him ?
